Pam & Marcus
by Stan on Jul.01, 2010, under Uncategorized
Last Saturday, June 26th, Julie and I had the privilege to photograph the wedding of Pam and Marcus in a ceremony at Brentwood United Methodist Church and reception held at Brentwood Country Club. The wedding was attended by many of the couples family and friends. You will be able to see from some of the images that BUMC is in a lot of the photographs, the reason is because not only are the couples members of this church but the actually meet at church. They both attended the same Small Group Sunday School class and the rest is history. They are a lovely couple and God is surely blessing their relationship. Below is a preview of the day’s images. Jeff and Greta
by Stan on Jun.17, 2010, under Uncategorized, engagement
Jeff and Greta are getting married in a cool indoors wedding ceremony latter this summer, but last Monday evening they were such good sports as we took to the hot outdoors for their engagement session. Let me say it again, they were so great to work with in sweltering temperatures!
We had several locations to travel to (as you can see from the images) but the one that was so much fun and had sentimental meaning was the Nashville Sounds baseball game (you see rumor has it that Greta ask Jeff out on their first date and they went to a Sounds game). While shooting at the ballpark Greta even got a foul ball which I used in a ring shot, what a women (OK she did get it from the bullpen players but it was a foul ball that they had caught).
We ended up in downtown Nashville cooling off by some fountains and getting sprayed with water by some kids actually playing IN the fountains. Great night with a great couple. Check out the images and let us know what you think, leave a comment!

After a few minutes of shooting they needed to cool them off

When I turned arround to change a lens, I heard them laughing, I looked over my shoulder and they were singing and dancing, what a photo opp!

Sounds lost but it was $1 dog night!

Wedding at Grace Community, Rain or Shine!
by Stan on Jun.11, 2010, under Uncategorized, weddings
David Begley and Sharon Merkle were married at farm/camp property belonging to her grandfather called Grace Community on Sunday, May 30th, 2010. Sharon grew up riding her horses and running around on this land which made it an easy choice for her and David to select it as the location for their outdoor wedding.
The days forecast was for warm temperatures, bright blue skies and a chance for some showers. As you will be able to tell from the images we had all three. The rain didn’t start coming down hard until about thirty minutes before the ceremony and even though they tried to wait out the shower they had to move the wedding to the reception tent. Everyone hustled to converted one of the tents into the ceremony location and though the rain continued, David and Sharon did not let the change of venue dampen there excitement.
David and Sharon, thanks so much for letting us be a part of your Rain and Shine wedding Day!

Help for Haiti
by Stan on Jan.24, 2010, under Faith, Stan Stuff, Uncategorized
As I have watched the news and updates about the devastation in Haiti I’ve seen the destruction, the pain, the poverty, and I realized how spoiled I am. I realized how out of touch with this situation I am. I see the images and I pray, I see the hurting and dyeing and I feel badly, but what am I going to do? I asked what is my part in this?
Last week as I was looking at some of the images from Haiti I saw this one of a little boy, all alone and setting on a rock. In my early training as a photographer I was taught to focus on a persons eyes so now when I’m viewing a photograph of a person I seem to always look at the eyes. The boy looked to be about 8 or 9 and his eyes were big and brown, he wasn’t crying he wasn’t doing anything, just looking into the camera lens. I can’t explain it but the lost and lonely look in this child’s eyes told the story. Then I read the caption under the image, he had lost his entire family and had no one. Then I thought, how much do I love, I talk a good game but how much do I care, and how much do I sacrifice? That day the words of Brandon Heath’s song “Give Me Your Eyes” kept going through my mind;
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
Ones that are far beyond my reach.
Give me your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Last Sunday and today Long Hollow Baptist (as well as countless other churches) gave and gave and gave. Since last summer Long Hollow has been raising money through the Crazy Love offerings in order, via a partnership with the Global Orphans Project, to build villages with schools and shelter for the orphans of Haiti. Is this a coincidence? I don’t think so; I think God has been preparing my heart, our hearts in order to break them so we can see. I will never see the boy in the photograph but God is calling me to help my church and through His work the orphans in Haiti will be exposed to his love and grace!
Today the people attending Long Hollow donated food, medicine, tents, diapers and clothes to the people of Haiti. FedEx donated a trailer, driver and time and will deliver the items to Miami, Florida. Once in Miami the Global Orphans Project will have it shipped to Haiti. The trailer was filled, actually there was probably enough to fill two trailers. Here are few images from today at Long Hollow;

Not only did they give they worked. Men, women and children packed boxes and loaded the truck!

Awesome! Keep praying for Haiti and for the staff members of Long Hollow Baptist who are in Haiti this week!
A few images from Alyssa and Brandon Ritchason’s wedding
by Stan on Dec.07, 2009, under Uncategorized
Ever since Alyssa and our daughters became friends in high school she has been like one of our daughters, so naturally we were excited to be able to photograph her and Brandon’s wedding. The wedding was beautiful and so was Alyssa (even though her voice was gone). Here are a few of their wedding images.

They meet prior to the ceremony

Christmas Worship at Long Hollow Baptist Church
by Stan on Dec.07, 2009, under Uncategorized
Last night we celebrated Christmas at Long Hollow in music, song and worship! The children began the worship then the choir and Long Hollow teens continued the praise. Brother David ’s brief words were about not only Christ birth but the reason for his birth and his death, that reason was to save you and me. Here are a few images from last night.

Jesus was born in a manger, he was sent to save us, he died for our sins and on the third day he arose from a stone tomb!

Carrie & Brian
by Stan on Nov.22, 2009, under Uncategorized
Here is a preview of Carrie and Brian’s wedding that we had the privilege to shoot a few weeks ago. Their wedding was an early afternoon ceremony at the Music City Sheraton with a dinner and reception celebration following. Carrie and Brian were so much fun to shoot, and their first dance was a montage of dances and music which the crowd (and we) loved. Here are a few images from the day.
